Phnom Penh: A Phnom Penh military police official said that two Chinese thieves who broke through a glass door armed with a hammer and a market post into a company selling gold and diamonds were sent to court.

It should be reminded that at around 1:54 AM on September 05, 2022, at the point of Building No. B43-B46 in Koh Pich, Village 14, Sangkat Tonle Bassac, Khan Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh, there was a case of breaking through the metal glass door. The thief escaped after stealing more than $ 230,000 in cash and some diamond jewelry, and the suspect escaped.

After a three-week investigation, Phnom Penh Military Police in Chamkar Mon district arrested two Chinese suspects named:

1. Name: LIU YANPING, Male, 27 years old, Nationality: Chinese, Occupation: Uncertain, Hometown: China, Current address is not true.

2-Name: LI ZHANWU, Male, 28 years old, Nationality Chinese, Occupation: Car mechanic, Hometown: China

Military police investigated and found the two suspects kept a white metal necklace with a gemstone necklace and a pair of white metal earrings with gems, yellow metal rings with gems around. 1 ring, 1 white metal ring with gems and 1 white necklace with gems, all of which were marked as stolen items on September 05, 2022 Also returned to the original owner.

In addition, the military police seized evidence related to some other crimes, including: 1 white Highlander car, license plate Phnom Penh 2AG-9838, 1 red metal cutting machine (welding post), 2 scrap metal. The original, a cutting motor and some other materials, including one of the suspects' mobile phone, a large package of jewelry photos of the victim, which has not been found.

Despite the large amount of evidence seized, the two Chinese nationals still refused to admit any wrongdoing, denying that they knew anything.

Finally, the competent authorities of the Office of Criminal Investigation of the Phnom Penh Municipal Gendarmerie have prepared a case to send the two Chinese suspects and exhibits to court for sentencing according to the legal procedure.
